The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Performer for Bentham in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Mr. 2. The role can use their power to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that role reinterpreted as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the group to reality, such as head the main antagonist, brought to life by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.

Though this character is a important part of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal further changes to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
