The Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Versus the Dodgers
The outfielder contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, making him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation besides him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" after his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance this season.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team claimed the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
