Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
