Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad following the uproar from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match after criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
He also implied that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
