Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a aggregate 51M spectators in the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after 2017.

MLB stated that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
